Borys Makary
Borys Makary (born 1977) is a visual artist. He works with conceptual, creative art that comments on reality. He primarily uses photography in his work, but also creates installations. He is increasingly turning to video. He holds a Master's degree in Visual Arts and graduated from the Multimedia Communication Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (now the University of Arts). He studied fashion photography
with Miles Aldridge and at the International Centre of Photography in New York.
He was an assistant to fashion photographer Richard Warren. He has exhibited his work in Poland
and abroad, including a solo exhibition at the Galerie Claude-Samuel in Paris, a group exhibition
at the NUE Gallery, and the FOTOFEVER group exhibition at the Louvre. He participated
in the WeArt festival in Barcelona and the Photo Independent festival in Los Angeles. Since 2012, he has received numerous awards in international photography competitions in the USA
and Europe, including two medals at the Prix de la Photographie Paris 2013 – both
for advertising campaigns and his own projects. He has published in numerous photography magazines, including "Secret Behavior" and "contra doc!". He lives and works in Krakow.
