DAMIAN CHROBAK& ADRIAN WYKROTA
Modern World
The past. The future. The present? Memories. Dreams. Nightmares? Chaos.
We live in the modern world. What is it like?
The "Contemporary World" project is an engaging photographic dialogue between Damian Chrobak and Adrian Wykrota. Documenting reality, the photographers use an impartial, neutral language, capturing moments and situations in urban spaces that often go unnoticed. The authors shift perspectives and references. They ask questions to which the viewer often finds ambiguous answers. The "Contemporary World" project is, in a sense, a research process, an attempt to take a closer look at the reality around us.
Damian Chrobak (1977) is a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF) and a graduate of the Academy of Photography in Warsaw. He became interested in photography in 2003. Since 2004, he has lived in exile in London. His favorite genre is street photography. He has presented his photographs in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He leads street photography workshops and promotes Polish street photography. He is the founder of the Un-Posed collective (www.un-posed.com). The photographer captures seemingly insignificant moments, revealing their unique meaning. The artist is characterized by exceptional insight and sensitivity. He photographs everyday life because, as he says, "it surrounds us most of the time, yet we barely notice it."
Adrian Wykrota (born 1988), member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF), founder of the Retrofokus photography agency. A graduate of English Philology and Cultural Studies, he has participated in prestigious workshops at Magnum Photos. Recognized as one of the 30 best photographers of the young generation in the Magnum Photos "Top 30 under 30" ranking. A winner of many important international and national photography competitions, including the top 30 under 30 Magnum Photos, Grand Press Photo, Lumix Festival, IPA, Leica Street Photo and Wielkopolska Press Photo, his works have been presented at numerous individual and group exhibitions around the world.
